The Basics
What are people saying about this color?
When I walked into her great room, I said Wow what colour is this green?. She said, It’s HC-116 Guilford Green. … My client commented that everyone that walks into this room reacts the same way that I did. Now obviously it’s a pretty and decorated room with the coordinated furniture and drapery, however this green really was beautiful.
This color reminds me of hospital corridors. ... I hope I am not hurting anyone’s feelings. Guilford Green to me is a difficult color. It would be great if it would have some more silver in it, making it olive green, but that’s just me.

I have always loved this shade of green and think it looks so good combined with a very dark color or a white. By doing this, the boldness of the slight yellow undertone is balanced and the contrast and bold difference between the two colors becomes very complimentary. Guilford Green is a great example of how to incorporate a bolder color into your home but diffusing and neutralizing it by combining and grounding it with a very dark or brighter white.

What kind of spaces does it work best in?
This welcoming shade would be great in an entryway, have enough yellow to pop in a living room, and be a great fit for a bedroom or bathroom. It would bring a fresh cleanliness to a laundry room or mudroom. This shade has a liveliness that the other popular light greens don't, and as a result it's going to bring a bit more energy to spaces.

Where could you expect to see it?
I could see it at your local vegan cafe and juice bar, and it would make you feel healthy and bright there. I could also see it in an artist's or craftsperson's studio, as it brings a bit of unexpected personality.

Who shouldn't pick this color?
The saturation of this green will mean it's not a fit for everyone. One person's lively spring green is another person's nightmare…

Any pro tips?
"Do you know what I do all day long when consulting with clients? I take the colour they are looking at and find a grayed down version of it. Colour gets twice as bright when it gets all over your walls so it’s the reason why a pretty paint chip doesn’t necessarily make a pretty wall." mariakillam.com
